02 Music centre

The music centre is a satellite, which is not orientated on the island [where it is located] but on the entire city of Rotterdam. This is true for the urban scale, but on an architectural level the building is submitting to its direct surrounding. E.g. the field on the northwest side is continued into the building, on the other side a strong facade is defining the road and presenting the building to the fast and slow traffic. The centre if the music centre is an open space where the concert halls are roofing over. This space is the heart of the building from which the building is being explained to the visitor. Before this visitor is able to enter the foyer, he/she had to go "through" the front facade first. This is the place where the vehicles are parked [theatrically].
